Kim is making his second Championship start in 2026 after finishing inside the top 10 in his Asia-Pacific Amateur debut in 2025 in Dubai. Earlier this year, he won the Japan Amateur by five strokes, recorded a top-10 performance in the Korea Open for the second consecutive year and was named to the International team in the Junior Presidents Cup near Chicago. Also in 2025, he successfully defended his title in the Korean Amateur and won the Chinese Taipei Amateur.
