Alkaabi is making his 12th Championship start in 2025. He has competed in the Asia-Pacific Amateur in Singapore, Thailand, Australia, Hong Kong, South Korea, China, United Arab Emirates and Japan. In 2024 in Japan, he became the first player from Qatar to make the cut in this Championship after opening with rounds of 73-71 at Taiheiyo Club Gotemba. Earlier this year, he won the Qatar Open Amateur and finished third in the Cyprus Amateur Open and fifth in the Gulf Cooperation Council Championship in Saudi Arabia. He has represented Qatar in both the Eisenhower Trophy and the Asian Games.
