Ding won the 2024 Asia-Pacific Amateur at Taiheiyo Club Gotemba in Japan by one stroke over fellow countryman Ziqin Zhou with four rounds of 67. One year earlier in 2023, he finished runner-up at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia after losing in a playoff to Jasper Stubbs. In his four Championship starts, he improved his finish each year. Before turning professional, he was a 2024 First Team All-American at Arizona State University and represented his country in the Junior Presidents Cup, Eisenhower Trophy and Arnold Palmer Cup. Since turning professional, he has gone on to compete on the DP World Tour.
